The Jiangsu Smart City Research Base is a decision-making consulting research base in Jiangsu Province approved by the Jiangsu Federation of Philosophy and Social Sciences in August 2019. The research base is in the charge of Nanjing University, which is jointly built by the Department of Housing and Urban Rural Development of Jiangsu Province and the Yangtze River Delta Urban Agglomeration Intelligent Planning Collaborative Innovation Center (led by Tongji University). The base is in line with the national big data and smart city strategy, guided by solving the outstanding problems in the construction of smart cities and new urbanization in Jiangsu Province, and aimed at meeting the needs of future urban development and smart society construction. It aims to carry out the theoretical basis, construction mode, overall planning and top-level design, dynamic simulation, data sharing and simulation system Theoretical and practical research on smart city evaluation and dynamic management monitoring, as well as related urban spatial data integration management, comprehensive application demonstration, and research and development of urban dynamic monitoring management technology, provide decision-making consulting services for the development of smart cities in Jiangsu Province.

The base focuses on building an important "think tank, talent pool and information base" in the field of smart cities in Jiangsu Province and even in the whole country, creating a smart city Big data support platform, a smart city technology collaboration platform, and a smart city application demonstration platform. The research base will become a national research and innovation base of smart cities with certain influence, and an important talent training/training base of smart cities in Jiangsu Province, serving the province a smart city decision-making consulting service base radiating across the country. The base is composed of three chief experts and more than 20 core researchers.
